Description of Master of Arts in Sport Administration (M.A.S.A.).
The Bethel University MA in Sport Administration prepares students for careers in intercollegiate athletics, sport governance, and more. The program prepares students for a wide range of careers in the field - athletic director, sports marketing director, information director, development director, collegiate compliance officer, facilities coordinator, tournament director and related positions. Graduates can be hired by scholastic athletic departments, state and local sports programs, professional sports leagues, media outlets, public relations and advertising firms, sports associations and various sports management businesses.
Format of Program
This program requires a total of 33 credit hours. Students must complete 15 hours of Sport Administration foundation courses, 12 hours of Intercollegiate compliance and governance courses, a 3-credit hour internship, and a capstone project. The program can be completed in a single year with students taking two online classes per 7-week term.

Admission Requirement for the M.A.S.A. Degree Program

- Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited school (preferably with a degree in sport management , business administration, exercise science, physical education or closely related field

2.75 or higher undergraduate cumulative grade point average for unconditional admission

Conditional admission may be granted for students with an undergraduate cumulative grade point average lower than 2,75, but they must complete the 15-hour Sport Administration core with a GPA of 3.0 or better to continue.

Graduation Requirements for M.A.S.A. Degree
For the Master of Arts in Sport Administration candidates, the following requirements must be completed:
- A total of 33 semester hours with a minimum 2.75 cumulative grade point average.
- Courses for which a grade below "C-" is received may not count as hours earned for the degree.
- All financial accounts must be fully paid to Bethel University. Academic credit, transcript and diploma are withheld until the account is paid in full.
- An Application for Graduation form must be completed by an advisor, signed by the graduate student, and approved by the program director. This must be completed and submitted to the office of the registrar no later than September 30 prior to the following spring commencement.
Academic Information
Six (6) hours of graduate academic work is the minimum required in order to apply for a student loan. However, a minimum of nine (9) hours of academic work may be necessary for certain kinds of student financial aid. A student who has full-time employment often finds that a maximum of six semester hours of study is advisable. A maximum of 6 credits may be considered for transfer credit.
Academic Probation
A student whose cumulative GPA drops below 2.75 is automatically placed on academic probation. Failure to raise the cumulative GPA to 2.75 or higher the following semester will lead to dismissal from the program. A student who is placed on academic probation may register an appeal through the program director, citing mitigating circumstances. The program director will rule on all such appeals. Normally a student may reapply through the program director following one semester after being dismissed. If the student is allowed readmission, he/she will be placed on probation for one semester. During that semester the GPA must be raised to 2.75 or the student will be dismissed from the program.
