ELED 441 Literacy Assessment and Intervention

This course investigates informal and formal assessment procedures used to design and evaluate robust reading instruction and intervention.  Teacher candidates will develop the knowledge and skills needed for data interpretation and data-based decision-making to guide instructional planning and intervention.  Candidates will learn how to implement a research-based intervention with a student who is struggling with early reading skills.  This course is taken concurrently with ELED 411 Methods of Fieldwork and ELED 442 Literacy Assessment and Intervention Practicum. Teacher candidates are required to pass this course with a minimum of a B- or higher.  Teacher candidates must successfully complete ELED 442 to pass this course.
