COMM 285 Practicum in Student Media

This course is intended to build student skills and portfolios through internal work in Bethel Student Media. Under faculty supervision, this work includes participation in student media venues and achievement of specific tasks required by each program. Requirements for the course are the same as for communication internships:

  • Documentation of 35 hours of work for each credit hour,
  • Faculty supervision and systematic evaluation,
  • Performance of given tasks, in a professional and timely manner,
  • Collection of multiple artifacts that meet Publication or broadcasting standards,
  • A detailed paper describing the work within a semester.

Student media available for this practicum include: Bethel Beacon, The Helm Yearbook, Pilot Podcasts, The Crossings Literary Magazine. May be repeated for up to 12 total credit hours.
