MATH 281 Mathematics for Teachers I

This course is the first in a two-part course sequence designed to review elementary and prerequisite math content in preparation for ELED 425. Topics covered include: numbers and the decimal system, fractions, arithmetic operations and their application to fractions, decimals, and negative numbers, as well as an introduction to number theory and algebraic thinking. Emphasis will be placed on development of conceptual understanding, analysis of errors, and creation of a learning community characterized by a growth mindset, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving.
