Special Education Minor
Candidates completing any licensure program in elementary, secondary, or all-grade education programs may be licensed in special education (Exceptional Needs: Mild Intervention) through completion of this 17-credit minor and attainment of passing scores on state mandated exams. During the student teaching experience, the pre-service candidate will be required to intern in a mild interventions setting (i.e. resource room, general education inclusion classroom). Program completers will be qualified to teach in their initial licensure area and in K-6 or 5-12 special education settings – a high need position in today’s schools.
