LANG 201 Introduction to Phonetics

Introduction to the nature of speech sounds. Topics include: physiological aspects of speech production, use of the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) as a descriptive tool, and instrumental analysis of speech sounds. Examples are drawn from both English and various world languages.
