Painting and Drawing, B.A.
The Painting & Drawing major guides students as they explore their artistic gifts and complete training to hone those gifts in God's service. As a student in the Painting & Drawing program, you will develop not only your craft, but also gain the ability to establish an intellectual, historical, and aesthetic awareness of the art making process. As introductory classes move on to intermediate and advanced levels, you will engage with expanded practices, work with many different materials, objects,, and surfaces, and develop studio practices within your own distinct artistic vision, imagery, and concepts. Painting & Drawing graduates are very adaptable and capable of applying their critical thinking, communication, and creative problem-solving skills to a variety of professions. Many graduates choose to further develop their skills by pursuing a graduate degree or by seeking opportunities such as artist residencies, grant-funded projects, or positions in community-based art programs.
