CHMN 510 Chaplaincy Orientation and Issues

This course is designed for those who are pursuing a call to chaplaincy, who are exploring the possibility of serving as a chaplain - either full-time or part-time - or who simply desire to learn the skills of a chaplain for any ministry context.  The course introduces students to the various scenarios in which chaplains minister, types of tasks they perform, and the unique and challenging issues they will face as chaplains - whether serving in hospitals, hospice centers, retirement homes, universities or colleges, prisons, the military, homeless shelters, churches or the workplace.  It emphasizes skills, tools, strategies and character traits needed for effective chaplaincy ministry.
